In 2024, the sales proportion of new energy vehicles is expected to increase to 37%, while the market for fuel vehicles faces further contraction. Developing overseas markets and increasing the share of exported products will be key priorities for Halla in the coming years. With Middle Eastern customers and the project award for mass production of Malaysia's Proton cars, more markers have been added to Halla's roadmap.
In Malaysia, Hanna participated in the PIS project bidding in November 2023 and officially secured the designated spot, planning to start SOP in July 2024, achieving 100% supply share for generators and starters for the Saga, Persona, and Iriz models, with an expected annual supply volume of 200,000 units. At the same time, according to Geely's strategic plan, B (1.5T) and VEP4 (2.0T) engines will be gradually introduced to the Malaysian market in the future, aiming for production and sales of 400,000 units by 2026.
The continuous success in overseas projects has strengthened Hanna’s confidence and determination to expand internationally. The 150,000-times stop-start starters for Volkswagen are undergoing durability testing in Wolfsburg, Germany, and will be promoted on the same platform to Volkswagen in Europe and South America in the future. Meanwhile, in response to Geely Automobile’s localization strategy in Malaysia, Hanna has already started discussions with local Malaysian companies for joint venture factory construction, with plans to develop larger potential markets in ASEAN countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam through joint venture factories. In 2024, Hanna will continue to accelerate its overseas expansion and set sail!
